Transcend Espresso — San Sebastián, Mexico
Our signature Transcend Espresso brings together sweetness, balance, and complexity in a coffee that is equally enjoyable as espresso or filter. This edition features San Sebastián, a washed coffee from small family-owned farms in Oaxaca's historic Zona Pluma region. With notes of chocolate, honeysuckle, and hard candy, it offers a sweet, approachable cup with delicate floral character.
About San Sebastián
San Sebastián comes from small family-owned farms surrounding San Sebastián Coatlán, nestled within the Sierra Madre del Sur in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Grown between 900 and 1,300 metres above sea level, coffee is cultivated alongside bananas, corn, beans, and fruit trees. Bourbon, Caturra, and the region's distinctive Typica Pluma varieties contribute to the character of this coffee.
The lot is sourced through Terra Coffeas Mexico and export partner Galguera Gomez, whose collaborative approach provides producers with post-harvest support, quality control, traceability, and access to transparent pricing.
Careful Harvesting & Washed Processing
Ripe coffee cherries are selectively harvested, hand sorted, and floated to remove damaged or underdeveloped fruit. After depulping, the coffee undergoes a two-stage fermentation: 24 hours of dry fermentation followed by 24 hours submerged in water.
The parchment is then thoroughly washed and slowly dried on patios or raised beds to approximately 11% moisture before final selection and export preparation.
Flavour Profile
Transcend Espresso showcases the natural sweetness and balance of San Sebastián, with a chocolate foundation complemented by delicate honeysuckle florals and a lingering, hard-candy sweetness.
The result is a harmonious and approachable coffee, offering complexity without sacrificing the comforting qualities we look for in our signature espresso.
Why Choose Transcend Espresso?
-
Sweet & Balanced: Chocolate richness, delicate florals, and a lingering candy-like sweetness.
-
Versatile Brewing: Developed with espresso in mind, but equally enjoyable as filter coffee.
-
Thoughtful Sourcing: A carefully selected washed coffee from small family-owned farms in Oaxaca's historic Zona Pluma.
-
Distinctive Character: Bourbon, Caturra, and Typica Pluma varieties contribute to a beautifully balanced expression of the region.

Please note that all ground coffee purchases are final sale and are not eligible for refund or exchange. Because ground coffee is prepared specifically to your selected grind size, we are unable to accept returns or offer exchanges once the package has been opened or shipped.
If you're unsure of your grind preference, we recommend choosing whole bean coffee for maximum flexibility and freshness.
